Thank you very much for your participation to the 3 days of Belgium 2016 !
We look forward to seeing you at one of our next events:
- The Transforestière, our orienteering adventure raid on the 2nd and the 3rd of July, in teams of two.
- The 3rd Rogaining event on the 2nd of July.
- A middle distance competition in Brussels on the 17th of September, which will precede the BOM, organized the next day by Altaïr in Louvain-la-Neuve.
- The 3 jours de la forêt de Soignes in Brussels on the 11, 12 and 13 of November (More info soon), organized in collaboration with Altaïr.

Il ne reste que quelques heures avant la limite d'inscription au tarif préférentiel (6€ avant le 5 mai).
Le week-end dernier, un Traileur émérite mais aussi excellent orienteur, en la personne de Gilles Delmée, a testé le parcours. Voici ce qu'il en ressort :
- Add another level of fun on your trails -
"Je retiens un parcours très varié au milieu de la magnifique forêt d’Herbeumont qui alterne des parties roulantes pour lâcher les chevaux et des parties plus exigeantes pour solliciter les muscles. Entre les côtes et les descentes techniques qui s’enchainent, il faut trouver du temps et un peu de lucidité pour anticiper et suivre l’itinéraire proposé sur la carte. L’OrienTRAIL ajoute une dimension supplémentaire très excitante par rapport au trail classique. Les kilomètres et le dénivelé sont avalés avant même qu’on ne s’en aperçoive."

Nature challenges lover ? Take avantage of The 3 Days of Belgium to discover... Orienteering
The Challenge ? Find between 15 and 20 controls (white and orange flags) thanks to a very precise map and a compass. From one control to the other you’ll be the one to determine which path to choose. Each control becomes then a challenge in itself which makes you forget the physical effort!
Searching for activities before or after your race? The FUN O CLUB is back for a funnier 2016 edition of the 3 days of Belgium.
Throughout your stay, the entertainment team will organise various activities in the arena and at the course center!
Pour les amateurs de course nature, l’OrienTRAIL, organisé en parallèle à la 3e étape le lundi 16 mai, vous offre la possibilité d’approcher la course d’orientation sous forme de trail.
Pas de balisage sur le terrain : l’itinéraire est mentionné sur une carte d’orientation. Le tracé emprunte les plus beaux chemins et sentiers de la forêt d’Herbeumont.
Deux parcours: 26 km / 950 m D+ et 12 km / 350 m D+.

During a single week-end, 12 of us were needed to pre-control and check nearly 300 control points...
The two forest are wonderful and we’re looking forward to let you enjoy them! We came across some roes, hinds and wild boars.
Unfortunately, because of the rain, not many pictures were taken. But we promise that we ordered nice weather for May. The local specialties (sausages, saucissons, Orval & others) have also been "controlled"... And will for sure be present during the competition too!
People from ten countries already registered to the 3 days of Belgium ! Among them, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, Luxemburg, Norway, The Netherlands, United Kingdom and Switzerland.
Are you going to strenghen your delegation ? Or will you be the first to represent your country ?

The work of cartographers is over. The technical team in charge of the courses begins theirs...
The long evenings will now be dedicated to the drawing of courses adapted to the different categories.
As soon as the hunters have left the forest the orienters enter it, testing the courses and placing the temporary markers.
As Spring comes, the cartographers will come back to adapt the map to the forest changes.

The 3 days of Belgium 2016 will take place in terrains were no orienteers has been seen since 30 years! Moreover, the map of the third day is a brand new one.
In order to offer you great quality maps, we’ve been asking the cartographer Coti to do the job. He has drawn, among others, the very technical maps who served for the WOC 2011 and is currently busy in our beautiful forest.
